Hi, there and thank you for stopping by.
My name is Katy! I have my Master's of Social Work, from VCU (GO RAMS!), and I am a certified Birth, Bereavement and Adoption Doula. My hope is to bring awareness to this field and give support to anyone who wants or needs it.
My name is Kathleen, but everyone calls me Katy, and I am a mom of three amazing kids, twice through adoption. I am a Richmond native, born and raised! I am a wife to a loving husband, I am a daughter, an ally, a teacher, a social worker, and a friend. I am a nurturer by nature, and find power in empathy. This led me to pursue this work.
As your birth doula, I will provide support, love, encouragement and commitment to you and your partner. I will empower you so that you can have the birth experience you desire.
As a bereavement and adoption doula, I not only provide support through your birth, but through your loss. I am there for you during your miscarriage. I am there through your stillbirth. I am there when your baby has a terminal diagnosis, and I can be there through your abortion. I can be there if you choose adoption, and I can be there if you are an adoptive parent or birth parent.
I will be with you, hold your hand, emotionally support you and help you labor and deliver your child, to bring them Earth side. I will be there so that you can celebrate your child, your family, the joy, the sadness, and everything in between without having to spend moments on the details. Every human deserves a person. As your doula, I will be your person. Together we will celebrate your joy and your grief.
No one should ever be alone during their hardest moments, if they don’t want to be. It is my hope to empower you through your journey, and support you to the best of my abilities.
Much love,
Katy
